Is nobody playing skyrim? Or are you too hooked up to the game to post screenshots?

One of the reasons I didn't like Oblivious was because everything from the landscape and houses to armour and monsters looked as generic and bland as fantasy can possibly get. Everything was just so boring to look at that I never felt like I wanted to explore the world. Fortunately, Skyrim is the opposite. Maybe I'm partial since I'm scandinavian, and thus feel oddly nostalgic among the snowy forests and pseudo-viking architecture, but it's really enjoyable to just walk around and enjoy the outdoors. It feels like they actually made an effort to make something visually interesting, unlike in Oblivion.

Can't post screenshots since I play on the xbox360, though.

I haven't really seen anything very scenic in Skyrim. The only environment thing that even stood out was the 2 moons (and their absurdly large sizes).

Check out Nehrim.* It's a total conversion mod for Oblivion. It's what oblivion could have (should have) been.

Really? I thought the area around Whiterun was gorgeous, together with the entire plains area. And they really went out of their way to make locations that serve little other purpose than being pretty, like Eldergleam Sanctuary.

I was walking around the North West edge of the map seeing how far I could get before hitting walls. Jesus the guys at Bathesda are amazing artists. The snow and trees makes me feel right at home seeing as how I can just walk outside and see the same image. Sans mountains.

A pretty good list of the greatest locations in Skyrim, judged almost completely by atmosphere and visual appeal. While it misses some of my personal favorites, I agree with most of it.

You have to delete all your image files for some reason. You can only save your porn or your scenic images. Wich one do you save?

I have recently discovered that, for me, the answer is not obvious.

  No.9616   Report

Well I recently deleted all my porn. It was taking my focus from real-life things, and draining me of sexual energy which I want to save for a relationship (not that I'm exactly in one right now).
First got rid of the real-life porn which I didn't care for that much. Then the hentai doujins a few weeks later, which hurt alot more because there are always cute/artsy image stuff that I would have wanted to keep. But it would have taken months to go through each doujin and I knew I'd probably just keep endulging in it all throughout that time. It was tough, but it was time to move on, and I did. It'll still be a struggle to stay free, but I feel glad that I started.

I'll always want to keep my yuushoh images. And I think I always can : )

If my /yuu/ folder counts as scenery porn, does that mean I have to delete everything?

  No.9935   Report

My porn folder was actually harder to amass and set up to my liking. A number of obscure stuff and things I happened to like a lot, which was surprised and endearing, in a way. I pick and choose my porn a lot. My scenic pictures are basically two folders, and most of it is easily findable again on gelbooru and here...
Now, if you're talking about the entire Artworks folder, or Architecture/Cities (non-artwork), or both, that's another thing.

Always wanted to try it out.

  No.8813   Report

>>8812 It's a pretty neat game, if you don't mind that the gameplay revolves around trial and error. You are often required to react quickly or die insantly, and it's usually really hard to figure out what you're supposed to do before it's too late. So prepare to die. A lot.

  No.8814   Report

While the company itself is annoyingly pretentious, this does look really nice. Let's hope there's an actual game underneath that eyecandy as well.

  No.8815   Report

Oh yeah, if you read the interviews with the creative director about the game, he's awful full of himself in describing the concept/premise. Shame, as I really enjoyed their previous games.

Then again, seeing as the previous three were a little high concept anyway, but still managed to be fun, I'm holding out hope for this one as well.

>>8818 The Dig is highly relevant to this board, as so much effort was put into making the alien landscape as strangely beautiful yet unsettling as possible. Sure, it had it's flaws such as some pretty dumb and/or obscure puzzles, but I've seen many adventure games who were way worse offenders on that point.

Such a great game, let down by the often odd puzzles and the terrible deus ex machina ending. I loved the music and scenery though, it really made you feel isolated on a strange world. Reinstalling.

Since this is the only thread I see on the first few pages having to do with games...

Does anyone get that "scenic route" feeling from Assassin's Creed (the first one)? The cities and landscapes are so beautiful, and I love that you can just walk around those giant cities, looking around and exploring and there's people everywhere chatting and walking around... it's just a nice feeling. (Until you accidentally run into a Templar.)

  No.8871   Report

>>8862 Agreed, the cities are very impressive.
Personally, the "overworld" part, with the horse and all, just annoys me and really serves no other purpose than padding out the game by half an hour. Or more, if you're enough of a masochist to go hunting for all the flags. Overall, Assassin's Creed is a good game bogged down by some really weird design flaws, like how you're practically just doing the exact same mission over and over and over again. Or how when you're starting a new mission, you have to walk 1km through the town EVERY SINGLE TIME before even getting to the world map. That's just Styrofoam peanuts to pad out the game by a few minutes.

It is pretty, though. And the combat is great.

I really enjoyed the alley ways shots, they really spoke to me in a way I can't properly verbalize. More so than the "photo-op" glory shots and vistas. Not that I don't appreciate those as well, but they alleyway shots are far more interesting to me, even to revisit them again now. :3

When the "hurricane" happened I took off my shirt and went for a walk in the forest. It ended up just being a lot of high wind. But it felt cool, a lot of trees fell and I took some video while I was out there. Problem is there is currently something wrong with the mircoSD card the videos were on and none of my computers or devices can see anything on or about the card. If I can fix it then I will upload the videos.
